Elizabeth (Betsy) Sheppard was born and raised in Shorewood, Wisconsin and New Delhi, India. She attended the University of Wisconsin at Green Bay and Western Kentucky University, where she majored in English and minored in Art.
As part of her Art minor, she took ceramics from William (Bill) Weaver, a gifted artist and professor at Western, and has also taken some lessons from her mother, Mary Hooper Hirst, and master potter, Bob Brigl.
A few years ago, Betsy went back to school as a nontraditional student and got her teacher credentials in English and Allied Arts. Since then she has been working online, doing websites, tutoring, writing blogs and articles, and selling books and collectibles online. She has also made time to practice making pottery at the Pots Place Studio.
So far, she is enjoying making Fairy Doors and Monster Heads, and has made this webpage for the Pots Place plus a Pots Place Facebook group.
She hopes to make some more Fairy Doors, Monster Heads, bowls for the home, a quiche plate or two, and some mugs this year, along with some bigger show pieces. She also hopes to finish a long-standing weaving project. |
